PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
